City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #182782

Street & Traffic Signs:

Other: Original Case #182702 Closed: Can't fix. Can we please know who to contact to place signs. If we put signs up, the city will not take them down, or make us take them down because it is a private road?

Planning cannot speak to the perspective of other departments regarding this intersection, but I saw this came through again and wanted to make sure all parties were aware of previous enforcement at this site from a past report/complaint the department received. In regards to signage, the following is where planning has played a role in enforcement: According to Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 20.04.100 [Development Standards and Incentives; Signs]; (e) Prohibited Sign Types The following signs are prohibited in all zoning districts unless specifically authorized by another provision of this section (3) Imitation of Public Signs Signs that purport to be, are in imitation of, or resemble a public sign as described by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Examples include but are not limited to stop signs, yield signs, or pedestrian crossing signs.
