Traffic Suggestions:

Other: I live in Blue Ridge on the north side of town and cross the Dunn/45-46 intersection daily to get to work. This intersection not only has high traffic due to daily Bloomington traffic, but also has high traffic with visitors for game days and other IU events. This intersection needs to be reworked to help with traffic flow and safety. (1) Driving south through the intersection on Dunn there is only a green light (no green arrow or yellow yield arrow like other traffic signs around town.) People frequently turn left immediately on green without yielding, causing several near accidents (happened to me twice just this week.) (2) Going northbound on Dunn -- there are 3 lanes - 1 to turn left, 1 to go straight onto North Dunn, and 1 to turn right. Although there is a sign that says turn left, almost daily people are turning left from the "straight traffic" lane, again causing issues with traffic and safety. I believe there needs to be a sign that says "straight ahead only" -- similar to the signs on South Walnut near Kroger/Seminary Square. As someone who drives this intersection daily, I am always prepared for someone to incorrectly cross through these intersections, but for 90% of people who do not, especially people going to/from IU on visits and other events and/or are from out of town, this is extremely unsafe.

The Dunn St intersection with the SR 45/46 Bypass is owned and operated by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the City of Bloomington is not in a position to consider modifying the intersection as suggested. I suggest contacting INDOT with this concern through their customer service portal available here: https://indottscc.service-now.com/csm
