This intersection was observed and evaluated recently. No changes to the signal operations are planned at this time.
Traffic volumes on Atwater Ave are much higher than on Henderson St/Indiana Ave, particularly in the afternoon peak hour with an approximately 80/20 split. The signal timings are currently configured to prioritize the flow of traffic on Atwater Ave in order to avoid potential spillback queuing into 3rd St/Dunn St intersection.
The northbound Henderson St approach does have vehicular detection, so you may see particularly short cycles when few vehicles are present and longer cycles (to a limit) when traffic is heavier on Henderson St. The detection was recently confirmed to be operating properly.
