Thank you for this suggestion and I apologize for this delayed response. The City is initiating a traffic signal retiming project and we will evaluate this request as a part of that effort.
Other: I live in Downtown Bloomington, and I really appreciate the Kirkwood street closures during the summer! I think they add a lot to the character of Downtown and make pedestrian access much easier. That being said, the t-shaped intersection that is created at Kirkwood and Walnut has become dangerous to pedestrians. Cars are not yielding to the pedestrian walkway, and I've been almost hit by cars that are not paying attention making a left turn while trying to cross the street twice in the last week. I think it would work better for everyone if there were a staggered light so that pedestrians were able to cross when no cars are trying to make a left turn. While that would slow down traffic, it would make things much safer for pedestrians, and I would feel safe walking in my own neighborhood again. Thank you for your consideration!
