City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #184372

Other:

Other: Just curious if there was any discussion with city staff about the air quality being hazardous? I would like to recommend if possible to have restaurants restrict outside seating until air quality is better. Just like with the Covid-19 pandemic where the government shut down businesses, I believe the city should restrict where possible outdoor seating is available for the safety of public. Encouraging the public to wear mask outside. https://bloomingtonian.com/2023/06/28/air-quality-alert-and-reduced-visibility-due-to-smoke-in-indiana/

The city put out a news release regarding the air quality which advised residents and provided resource links: https://bloomington.in.gov/news/2023/06/29/5665 The decision to close or regulate restaurant seating would need to come from the Monroe County Health department, the city does not have that ability.
