Water Utility Problems:

Other: I heard my sump pump running and went down into my basement to find water had accumulated in the southeast corner. This is in the vicinity where water would be piped into my home. I checked my water heater which is in that area of my basement (installed last December) and it doesn't appear to be leaking. I'm wondering if there's a leak underground somewhere.

Good Morning, Carol, Your water meter is currently showing an hourly usage between 20-30 gals per hour. Do you have a main shut off valve inside the home that will kill the water to the entire house? If so, we can proceed with scheduling a "Check for leak shutdown" which will help us pinpoint the location where the hourly usage is coming from. Once the main valve is off, if the meter continues to move, that indicates a leak in your service line, between the meter pit and home. If the meter stops when that valve is off, that indicates it's something inside. If you do have that main shut off valve, we can schedule the shutdown Monday - Friday, any time between 8am-12pm. Please let me know. If you'd like, you can email me at : trotterk@bloomington.in.gov Thanks! Kim

Potential leak (sounds like it may be customer side service line)
