Other: Dangerous biking behaviors on walking/biking trail between Olcott Park and Sherwood Oaks Park. Can signs be placed to instruct cyclists to 1. slow down for pedestrians 2. signal by bell or voice if passing from behind 3. be prepared to stop should it be necessary. A woman and her daughter came down the path at a high speed, did not announce their presence, and almost ran over our 5 year old granddaughter. Education concerning bicycling etiquette might help. Please forward my note to the appropriate department if this is not the correct contact for this type of suggestion/complaint. Thank you.

Linda, Thank you for reaching out regarding trail etiquette and safety between pedestrians, cyclists, and other trail users. This is certainly a topic we have heard quite a bit about, especially on the City's higher-use trails and paths. The Parks & Recreation Department along with the Planning & Transportation Department have had discussions about ways to create more comfortable experiences on trails, including education campaigns, striping, and more. With the recent striping of the B-Line, the coming months will be a good learning experience as to whether this measure has the intended effects. If so, Parks & Rec may decide to expand this striping program on other trails in the City. Know that we are aware of this issue and will continue to improve the trail experience for all users. Best, Hank Duncan
