Biking & Walking:

Other: At 7:26 am on 11/31/2023, a motorist in a dark BMW nearly ran me over as I was crossing the street. The vehicle was traveling about 50 MPH based on my calculation (speed=distance/time.) This is not the first near miss that I have had crossing the street or backing out of my driveway. I have sent in requests for a speed hump as motorist travel north and south between 3rd and 5th much faster than 25 MPH. I have not heard back from anyone. Please let me know that you have at least seen this uReport ticket. I tried to submit this report in the "Close Call" section more than once and it does not work.

I have contacted the reporter on uReport, sharing details about the resident-led traffic calming program. Additionally, I've recorded the request on our yearly neighborhood greenway prioritization list, ensuring that this segment will undergo a comprehensive review this year. If selected, more detailed information will be provided promptly. I will also follow up via email after closing the case to bring Hank Duncan into the fold

Linda, Thank you for reporting your concerns about the speeding incident and your previous requests for a speed hump. We appreciate your proactive approach to community safety. First, I would like to inform you that I will add this concern to the neighborhood greenway prioritization list. We will consider moving this greenway up on the list to address this segment in the near future. Second, I'm going to forward your request to Bicycle Pedestrian Coordinator Hank Duncan. I believe this case may align well with our Resident-Led Traffic Calming program, which operates on a yearly grant cycle opening in January. You can find detailed information about the program at https://www.bloomington.in.gov/tcgp If you would like to be notified when the Resident Led program is open for projects, please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdXC9K68fSup2fpLx1nCNLpXO9fNJ49_Z7Vx3GwObep4sAEqQ/viewform If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly at roblingr@bloomington.in.gov or at 812-349-3459.
