Parking on Unimproved Surface:

Other: Threlkeld, James Shannon info@bloomington.in.gov Hello, Commercial Service has illegally parked their commercial trucks in our upscale neighborhood (average home value is 750K) every day for the last 30 days. It is parked at 3954 E. Fenbrook Ln. Bloomington 47401. They have been parking other vehicles (smaller) periodically since June of 2023. Now it's every day and with their large commercial trucks. I have posted to Ureport with no success. This is no different than parking RVs or boats in residential neighborhoods. The presence of these trucks puts downward pressure on the value of the homes in this neighborhood. Who wants to pay over 750,000 for a house with big commercial trucks parked in the driveway next door every evening when they come home and all day on the weekends? This is what Commercial Services is doing in this neighborhood. Just so you know, I have made three phone calls to the company asking them to stop parking these trucks overnight and on the weekends in our neighborhood.

Staff can see that a vehicle is parked in a driveway, not an unimproved surface. Planning code does not prevent an individual from parking their vehicle at their residence in a compliant driveway. This is not an RV being used for storage or living quarters. If your neighborhood CCRs, Bylaws, or HOA has further regulations regarding this reported parking in a driveway, then you would need to pursue those avenues. Planning can only enforce Bloomington Municipal Code.
