City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #186710

Trails:

Other: There are at least five camps of unhoused individuals along this stretch of trail. They are now clearing the land for firewood and also running generators. There is trash everywhere and almost daily screaming fights that are spilling over into the adjacent Broadview neighborhood, including an assault yesterday, 1/7 on Bryan. What's the long term plan here? The parcels on either side of the trail are owned by Autovest II LLC.

I wanted to follow up on this report -- we are working with the new administration and other departments and non-profits on a plan to address these encampments, especially given the safety challenges posted by being mid-winter. Please report further if you have more concerns and watch for updates from the city administration/Office of the Mayor.

Thanks for passing this along so we see it. The encampments on both sides of Switchyard Park are something that is being discussed with the new administration and across department heads and service providers. I don't have an answer for you right now but it is an issue that is being looked at with some urgency.
