City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Resolved #186732

City Performance:

Other: Where is information about the new commuter program? Is it true that electric vehicles get money back but hybrids don’t? There is still a cost barrier to most for getting electric vehicles so that doesn’t seem inclusive. Additionally, it seems many employees do not live in city limits and cannot afford to. Where is data on this? Most would not have access to biking routes or bus route. Is an alternative being thought of for those groups not eligible for this commuter program?

Thank you for your questions and your interest in the City of Bloomington. For 2024, the City merged the former Parking Cash Out Program (which was limited to those employees who work at City Hall) and the Bike to Work Program to create the new Sustainable Commuter benefit. This new program is accessible to more City employees than in the past, and is easier to claim as employees can now record this information directly in Time Track. Employees who live outside of the City of Bloomington are encouraged to explore commuting to work with others who are also commuting from the same vicinity to earn this benefit. Our new administration is taking a careful look at all existing benefits and programs before determining what, if any, additional modifications are needed to best serve our employees and our community. Questions about specific benefits can be addressed by contacting the HR Office at (812) 349-3404 or by email at hrmail@bloomington.in.gov.
