Staff will begin opening the back lot on nice weekends.
Other: The parking at Griffy Lake is insufficient for the current demand and the situation will likely only get worse in the future with the much appreciated upgrades to the trails and fishing pier. When the overflow parking is blocked off cars get backed up out to the street waiting for people to leave to take their spot. This creates a huge safety hazard for pedestrians and drivers alike. Could we look into some sort of solution to help reduce this congestion? Perhaps a carpool lot further away? A bus stop? Or even a way to walk from campus safely rather than it being a car required location. If none of those work, could we at least please have the overflow parking always open?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on on the parking situation at Griffy. Congestion is a concern there, especially when the weather is nice. The back portion of the lot is blocked off to discourage vandalism, dumping and camping through the winter. Staff will begin to unlock the back lot when nice weather is forecast for weekends. The Dept. is also working towards improving the lot and providing additional routes for walkers and cyclists to reach the Preserve.
