Planning staff investigated the lighting at the property and did not observe evidence of a violation of the City's outdoor lighting standards. The lighting observed appeared to be the standard low-intensity outdoor lighting allowed by code that does not require full shielding. Please see the City's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 20.04.090(b)(3)(F) [Outdoor Lighting; Applicability; Exemptions; Low-Intensity Lighting]. Property owners are allowed to display lighting that meets these standards without full shielding. Also of note, lighting fixtures abutting a public street are allowed to be brighter and have higher tolerances for lighting trespass limits. If you believe this to be an incorrect assessment and are able to provide photo evidence that the lighting does not meet low-intensity lighting exemptions from shielding requirements, please reach out to the Planning Department at planning@bloomington.in.gov
