Planning staff inspected the site and observed prohibited outdoor storage of materials / equipment (ladders, buckets, tires). Staff spoke with the property tenant at 1707 S Huntington Dr - Apartment A and explained that all materials and equipment needed to be cleaned up, removed from the property, or stored inside an enclosure to be in compliance with local zoning code. Also discussed issue with neighbor. Provided contact information to both the property tenant and the neighbor. Planning staff will follow-up in two weeks to ensure the issue has been addressed.

Planning staff will investigate for potential prohibited outdoor storage of materials. However, if we issue a Notice of Violation letter for this issue, it would go to the property where the materials are located. If a different property owner is storing materials on this property, that is a civil dispute, not a matter the City can enforce upon. It does not matter to the City who/what party cleans up the violation, just that the violation is resolved. Each property owner is responsible for ensuring their property remains in compliance with local code. If this issue is occurring on your property, you will be responsible for resolving the violation.

Dear Constituent:
Thank you for submitting information to us via uReport. We value your input and hope that we will be able to address your questions and concerns. HAND neighborhood compliance officers will inspect the property and determine if the cited trash at this property is in violation of Bloomington Municipal Code 6.06.070 (a). In the event of a violation, the neighborhood compliance officer will issue a Notice of Violation to the property owners via first class mail and by placing a copy of the violation on the property. After the Notice of Violation is issued, the property owner and/or tenant has seven (7) days to bring the property into compliance. If the property is not brought into compliance within the initial seven (7) days, the inspector may go to daily tickets.
Thank you,
HAND staff
