Traffic Related Complaints:

Other: I own the law firm at the corner of 4th St. and Walnut Street. My parking lot access is from the alley on 4th street. The city allows street parking on 4th street up to the entrance of the alleyway. When pulling out of the alley, it makes it impossible to see if traffic is heading east on 4th street when there are cars parked in the spots next to the alley. A space or two needs to be removed so that people can safely pull out of the alley to turn left without getting hit by oncoming traffic.

Thank you for your report regarding visibility concerns when exiting the alley onto 4th Street near Walnut. City staff visited the site on June 26 to evaluate the conditions and assess sight distance at the alley entrance. Based on our review, we determined that the existing on-street parking does not obstruct the view of approaching eastbound traffic on 4th Street. The line of sight meets recommended guidelines for safe stopping sight distance. At this time, we are not recommending any changes to the current parking configuration. However, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we’ll continue to monitor the area as part of our ongoing review of alley and intersection safety.
