uReport

City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Can't Fix #204325

Drainage or Runoff:

Other: Water is flowing from the lawn on the west side of Roosevelt, just south of Fifth St., and then running down the sidewalk. Looks like a leak; also the sidewalk is a bit slippery because the water is flowing through tree debris.

Engineering staff inspected the location. Water was still flowing across the sidewalk, indicating a likely sump pump discharge (not a gutter downspout). The walk currently shows only minor grass clippings and no slipping hazard. While sump pump discharge is not specifically prohibited under BMC 12.04.020, we will send an informational courtesy letter asking the property owner to keep the sidewalk swept and consider redirecting the outfall. We will recheck the site and escalate if debris accumulates or conditions worsen. At this stage no Notice of Violation is being issued. The uReport is closed, and staff will monitor for compliance.

Site visit conducted on 7/22. This appears to be either a sump pump or a gutter drain discharging onto the sidewalk. Iris, could you look at this or assign it to the correct Engineering staff member?
