closed: Resolved #205636

Temporary Signage w/o permit:

Other: See case #204983. That one was for a "For Rent" sign put up by Brawley in the ROW in front of 508 N. Washington. Apparnetly, they have been informed but they have done nothing about it and the sign remains after a month. Now, "Cedarview" (+ "10th & College") has done the same thing - signs in the ROWs all over town. Lincoln/10th, for example, but others downtown. The question is: since these signs have been left on public property, are they considered trash? And if so, can anyone just pick them up and toss them in a dumpster? Give us permission to do that and we will be happy to take care of them as residents and not wait the weeks (months!) for HAND or Planning to address the issue with the perpetrators.

Received photo confirmation from Brawley that signage in the ROW in front of 508 N Lincoln St has been removed. Upon Planning staff investigation, there was no signage in the ROW adjacent 533 N Lincoln St. Planning staff have continued to remove signage for Cedarview from the ROW in other locations around town.

Planning staff have reached out to Brawley and Cedarview regarding their recent signage campaigns and placement of signs in the public right-of-way (ROW) around town. Planning staff have been doing sweeps around the City to remove signs displayed in the prohibited location of the ROW. We have removed many already, but recognize many remain and will continue to pop-up. We do our best as an enforcement team of two people with many other job responsibilities to manage the constant flow of temporary signage. We cannot recommend a citizen remove signage from the ROW around town. Please feel free to continue reporting signs observed in the ROW to City Planning staff and we will address the issue as we have time. It is part of our job to to manage this issue and we have the legal authority to do so.
