City of Bloomington, Indiana

closed: Submission Received #206647

City Performance:

Other: I am extremely disappointed that the City has chosen to keep the 7-Line closed for an additional 4 months. It is disheartening to know that even if we build bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, they can and will be treated like accessories for contractors to play with. Does the Board of Public Works advocate for the residents of Bloomington or just contractors? This appeared to be against the wishes of Engineering staff- where was this passion to approve when it came to the Bloomington monument a couple of years back that they continued to deny with no justification??

Thank you for your message. These decisions are made by the Board of Public Works, which is composed of resident appointees. They make independent decisions, and we value their time, thoughtfulness, and care. As you noted, City staff did not support the application, but they did work with the applicant to substantially reduce their initial request. We are disappointed not to be able to open the 7-line and the sidewalk at this time, and we have been clear with the petitioner that we will not support any further extensions.
