Drainage or Runoff: Complaint

Phone Call: Resident (Ron) called to complain about standing water that collects at the end of their driveway apron, which is a few feet from a sewer drain. Resident reported that the problem may be related to developer construction in the area (i.e., staging of concrete with massive trucks) which has damaged curbs and sidewalks. Camera-ing stormwater or other facilities may be warranted. ENG is following up about expressed concerns of damaged public ROW assets (sidewalks, curbs).

I went for a site visit yesterday and it did appear that the foot of the driveway is lower and the street surface slopes up to the sewer drain, which is a few feet away from the drive. I did not determine anything related to the construction across the street that would play a role in water pooling in that location.

At Kendall's recommendation, I'm assigning the ticket to you for a site investigation to evaluate what could be contributing to ponding at this location. Based on your evaluation, this item may be placed on the Traffic Considerations agenda.

We do not see any ponding issue at this address and the street has been paved up to drain, so milling will not serve as a solution. I am sending this back to Engineering due to the construction across the street.

CBU conducted a site visit on 1/15/2026 to investigate this uReport. The ponding here is caused by a grading issue of the road surface. Google StreetView imagery shows that there was no evidence of ponding at this location prior to the repaving of N Jefferson St that occurred in 2022. Please edge mill at this location so that the pavement surface is graded to the storm drain.
