Sidewalk Snow Removal:

Other: To whom it concerns, Good morning! I am writing to express my displeasure with the snow removal services of the city in my neighborhood! Yesterday, I spent two and half hours removing the sidewalks along my property (703 West Ninth St., Fairview and West Ninth Street). It took me a long time to remove the heavy snow. I did this so the citizens and children would be able to walk easily on the sidewalks. I also had to remove the snow from the entrance to my driveway (on Fairview) so that I could drive out in emergency. I have a neighbor who has a medical issue that in case of emergency must get out of her driveway which she shares with me. I find the city ordinance obliging the homeowners to remove the snow from their property after 24 hours to be unfair! The amount of snow on my property when I removed it was close to 16 inches. Now it is over 3 feet because the snow removal crew dumped the streets snow on my sidewalks and driveway. Please send someone to remove the snow from my property. I am 73 years old and can no longer remove the snow for the second time. Please contact me at 812-322-4702 if you need to talk to me regarding this issue. Shahyar Daneshgar [email protected]

We value your input and hope that we will be able to address your questions and concerns. In accordance with Bloomington Municipal Code 6.07.010 (a), a property owner gets 24 hours after the snow or ice has ceased to fall or in any way accumulate to remove it before we can issue a violation. In the event of a violation, the neighborhood compliance officer will issue a Notice of Violation (NOV) to the property owners via first class mail and by placing a copy of the notice of violation on the property. Please be mindful of this process while we work with your neighbors to resolve this issue. Thank you, HAND staff
