Other: Why are there 32 New streetlights on west 1st st roughly the b-line to BHAS? Is this the new standard for streetlight place and concentration? Will other ares be brought up to the same standards as this area? There are not even any residents to serve? Was this paid by TIF Funds or other funds? If other funds what are they and are they funds sustainable ? Will all new areas get the treatment? Street lights question here because I was getting an error in the street light area.

Thank you for your message. New street lights were installed as part of the 1st Street Reconstruction project to improve safety and support the area's planned redevelopment. Street lighting place and concentration varies based on context. The Bloomington Hospital Site Redevelopment Master Plan Report specifically recommended pedestrian-scale street lighting rather than typical taller vehicular scale light fixtures. The City's Unified Development Ordinance similarly calls for pedestrian scale lighting in this area. Other existing areas will not necessarily be changed to match this area. In this case, the entire street was being reconstructed, so it was the most cost-efficient time to make a change. And as noted, the plans for this area called for this particular kind of street lighting. Regarding new areas, street lighting decisions have not yet been made for all new areas. People do already use this transportation corridor, and the Hopewell project and redevelopment in the area will increase use. Ground is expected to be broken this year at Hopewell for building new homes. This project was paid with TIF Funds.
