Sidewalk & Curb Complaints:

Other: Was disappointed to see no improvements to the steps on the steep hill when the updates to the roundabout were made. Can we please consider updating these steps sometime? They are all different lengths and angles which makes them difficult, awkward, and dangerous to traverse. Plus, kids cannot ride their bikes down them if they wanted to ride their bike to school. They are not accessible for wheelchair users either.

P&T and Engineering discussed the recent resurfacing project and how this gap is on the City's radar and on a list for future project consideration.

I was not the project engineer on this project, but I can speak to why that sidewalk was not improved as part of this project. The project was largely a resurfacing/maintenance project that took advantage of state of Indiana funding that can only be used for maintenance purposes. We did safety improvements that made sense to do along with the resurfacing project that we considered "low hanging fruit" such as the truck apron, curb ramps, refuge island, etc. This sidewalk, however, was outside of our pavement resurfacing area and outside of the scope of this project. There are many existing sidewalks and sidewalk gaps that we would love to improve in the future (including this one) and these improvements are prioritized by long-range planning as funding sources become available.

I believe you were the project manager for this. Could you talk about why this was not completed in conjunction with the roundabout project? It is on P&T's radar for future prioritization.
