City Performance:

Other: 1037 Emery Court is a Jeff Jones property that is on the legal action list. There were people looking at the property that reported that Jeff Jones is going to sell them the property on contract. This is the second property that residents in the neighborhood have heard this happening in the last couple of weeks. This neighborhood has had to put up with Jeff Jones for 20+ years. We were hopeful that the legal case was going to fix this slum lord situation. Jeff Jones has sold this house on contract or rent to own more times then I can count in the 20 years I have lived in this neighborhood. He has sold every house in the Walnut Creek subdivision neighborhood that he owns on contract repeatedly. It is a total scam. None of these houses ever are actually sold. We thought the legal litigation was going to stop Jeff Jones from continuing his slumlord ways. What is going on to address this?

Thank you for your message. I understand this is a frustrating situation. The City is following the settlement agreement, and all properties will be sold within 3 years, at the most. Our team has talked with many neighbors about the settlement agreement, and at this stage, we are working through the steps it outlines. Problems created over decades take time to resolve, and our recourse is limited, but we do believe housing must be safe for residents. We will continue to use the levers we have to make as much progress as possible.
