Street & Traffic Signs:

Other: Is parking allowed on E. Maxwell, between the 1400 block and High Street. There are two "No Parking" signs, one at the corner of High St and Maxwell; and the 1500 block has only zone parking. I'm asking because when cars are parked on Maxwell in the area without signage, the street becomes very narrow. I do not believe on street parking is allow between the 1400 block and approximately the 1900 block. Just asking for clarification. Thank you. V/r, Mark

Responded to resident with clarification that this section is not currently posted or listed in City Code as a no-parking area. Explained that Parking Enforcement generally cannot ticket where no parking restriction is posted, but BPD may enforce if a vehicle blocks the roadway and makes it impassable. Concern logged for future tracking; no further action planned at this time unless the issue becomes recurring or creates a clear safety concern.

Hi Mark, Thank you for reaching out. I checked the current parking restrictions, and the specific section you asked about is not currently listed in City Code as a no-parking area. That said, I understand your concern that parked vehicles can make the street feel narrow. If a vehicle is parked where the road is actually blocked and not passable, that can be reported to BPD for enforcement. However, if a vehicle is parked in an area without posted no-parking signs and the road is narrowed but still passable, Parking Enforcement would generally not be able to ticket it. At this point, we are not planning to pursue additional parking restrictions here, but I will log the concern so we can track it for the future. If this becomes a regular issue where the road is blocked or creates a clear safety concern, please let us know and we can revisit it. I’ll close this request for now. Thank you, John
