Trails:

Other: There has been a massive uptick in mostly young and teenage kids, mostly boys, riding on electric and gas powered bikes on the B-line at very high rates of speed that would not be safe even on a road. They pop wheelies, shout at pedestrians to get out of their way, and pose a huge safety risk. Why is there not an enforced rule on the kinds of vehicles that are not permitted on the B-Line? Surely it is illegal to drive a motor vehicle down the path?

Thanks for this uReport. We are increasingly aware of this issue, but it is a tricky one to enforce. BPD is not always available at the time of the incident, especially since the bikes move quickly through areas. Even then, chasing minors on bikes may not be advisable. Parks has a policy that eBikes and similar vehicles may be used up to 20mph. eBikes are classed into Cat. 1, 2, and 3 -- but more recently manufacturers are making category-less eBikes. These bikes aren't labeled with their capabilities, so it's additionally hard to enforce. The office of the Mayor is working on this issue, which may require a local legislative solution to create civic penalties or other similar consequences for misuse. I strongly encourage you to contact your local City Council representative and make them aware of this issue.
