Responded to constituent. Explained that the City no longer installs deer crossing signs due to limited effectiveness, and no sign installation is planned at this time.
Other: I am writing to formally request the installation of a "Deer Crossing" warning sign (or something similar) on North Telluride Street, specifically on the stretch between Arlington Road and Breckenridge Road/Denver. We have observed frequent deer activity and wildlife movement crossing the roadway in this specific area. This creates an immediate safety hazard for both local drivers and the wildlife. Installing a warning sign here would greatly improve driver awareness, encourage safer speeds, and help prevent potential vehicular accidents. I would be happy to send a video that shows an example if that would help. Thank you!

Hello Kerri, Thank you for sharing this concern. I understand why frequent deer activity along North Telluride Street would be concerning. At this time, the City is not installing new deer crossing signs. Deer activity is common in many parts of Bloomington, and deer can change crossing locations over time. Because of that, signs have limited effectiveness and can also create the impression that drivers only need to watch for deer where signs are posted. We will log your concern for future reference, but we do not plan to install a deer crossing sign at this location at this time. Thank you again for taking the time to report what you are seeing.
