Other: To Whom It May Concern, I would like to report a concern regarding the traffic signal at the intersection of South Walnut Street and East South Drive. A couple of months ago, the traffic signal timing was changed. Since then, the light appears to stop northbound and southbound traffic on South Walnut Street much more frequently than it allows traffic to exit South High School via East South Drive. As a result, traffic on South Walnut Street backs up significantly, particularly during the morning rush hour. Prior to the timing change, traffic seemed to flow much more efficiently. If possible, I would appreciate it if the signal timing could be reviewed and adjusted to more closely match its previous operation. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, David Taylor

Hi David, Thank you for reaching out. We are currently looking into the signal timing at Walnut Street and South Drive. We’ve also noticed the increased delay on Walnut and are doing some field observations to better understand what is happening. As part of the review, we’re looking into why the current operation was installed and whether it can be adjusted without creating an undesirable impact for pedestrians crossing the intersection. Once we’ve completed that review, we’ll determine what changes make sense. Thanks, John
