This building is falling apart and occupied. The gutter fell off the front of the roof 2 years ago and has never been replaced. Since then the roof has started to fall apart. You can see this from the street.
The rear retaining wall of 705 w 13th Street is a hazard as it is soon to fall like the other piece of retaining wall that fell off. Please address this hazard that is seen every day by us dog walkers using the public ROW in the alley. That large piece of limestone could fall any second and land on something or someone and it is unfair that property owners are not held accountable for maintaining their property. This rental property was inspected recently, and even with hazardous sidewalks on property as well as hazardous retaining walls, it was approved as safe for being a rental. Nope. It is not safe.
This house is abandoned and has been for at least the 8 years we've lived on the street. There is often excessive overgrowth and the backyard is literally growing INTO the structure of the home. It's a fire hazard and a danger to young children in the neighborhood. Recently, we tried to get our escaped cat from the backyard and I was absolutely stunned by the horrible conditions I saw in the rear of the home. Pests are likely breeding like crazy in the home - we've had two RATS killed by our cat in our yard this year. I've seen roaches on the driveway. It's awful! WHY can't the city do ANYTHING about this abandoned danger before something major happens?
This building is missing and has damaged emergency exit signs throughout the complex. Exposed live wires and light fixtures are rampant. The building's emergency system has been beeping an alarm for over two weeks.
What is going on here? A half-deconstructed building that is a danger to all who seek shelter on this property and a general eyesore. Are you aware that the 8’ basement is nearly full of water. Not a very safe place to bathe…I believe the city planning department (or the city in conjunction with the county) has the ability to condemn this structure and cause the cleanup of this site. I’ve been complaining to the property manager for over a year now about the cracks and mold in my apartment and nothing is being done about it. I keep on being told that the cracks throughout my apartment and separation of my wall and floor are from the building settling. These buildings are several decades old and I don’t understand how multiple cracks in the walls, cement block walls on the second story, and floor are separating this drastically after so many years of the building being here. And the mold has been getting worse and worse in my apartment. The most they did was spray mold spray in 2 of my vents. They established there was a moisture problem and didn’t fix it properly and I believe that there is mold in my vents and in the wood rot in my bathroom. Me and my son are constantly sick in home because of the mold. There is mold perpetually in my toilet, my tub, the vents, maintenance found mold in my cub area and drawers and there’s even mold on my smoke detectors.
More than one person is sick with bronchitis in multiple units in the building. The doctor states that bronchitis can be caused by materials that pollute indoor air. I know that we all share one furnace where one unit has control over the temperature of all six apartments in the building. There was questionable contaminated water that was sitting in a unit for the month that the residents were getting sick; it was plunged down the drained Monday 11/7. Though the water is not there anymore, the health and safety of the ventilation & air quality is still in question. I also cannot open the windows easily to the whole apartment to let fresh air in (is that a fire hazard?)
Cambridge Square Apartments bldg 303 unit 313.A person going by the name of DaeDae climbed my buildings balconies on 3 separate occasions. Stole my Ray Bans and on the third he saw the Prophet in me got scared and jumped. Now I called 911 and it led to the calls being dropped mysteriously. The safety check that was called in on my behalf was never performed by BPD.
Smoke detectors non working beeping over a week, one has been hanging from my son room ceiling, I have told staff in regards of being freightened it will fall on him also have reported it to them in writing. The microwave light has been out as well as two in my bathroom in which I've asked them to reach several times and I am disabled with hip replacements so it isn't a possibility for me to do so. Stairway has harmful items blocking the door. Stairway has harmful items such as Ziploc bag next to a needle appearing to not have a covering so the pointy tip side is visibly out and I notified staff in case a child or anyone incidentally gets hurt or stabbed with it. Window screen appears to have huge slit in it Heat not working all winter and fall in which I personally purchased a small portable heater. All detectors beeps but they do not assist me to replace making me very concerned for my safety.
My smoke detector has went off for weeks. After notifying a staff office member she was very dismissive and rude about it. And it's still not fixed and worries me. Clogged sink. Light bulbs in bathroom and microwave over light. Bathroom has mold. Black mold. Smoke detector hanging from my son's room by wire and they never sent maint. Drugs and needles (what I believe must have been drugs) many times in the hallways staircases and elevator. Used condom wrappers in hallways and staircases.
