I wanted to report a possible erosion or settlement concern near the city-owned fire hydrant located on my property at 3521 S McDougal St in the Highlands subdivision. During recent rain events, I’ve observed significant standing water and a large, deep depression around the hydrant area. I’m concerned there may be washout, settlement, or another issue affecting the soil surrounding the hydrant or nearby utility infrastructure. I also wanted to note that there are currently two known sinkholes in the neighborhood, including one located approximately one block away from this hydrant, which increased my concern about the possibility of underground erosion or voids in the area. I’ve attached a photo showing the current conditions. I’m not sure whether this falls under Bloomington Utilities or another department, but I wanted to report it in case the hydrant or underlying infrastructure should be inspected.
Water was shut off? Bill paid in full? Why is my water shut off. I expect to be compensated for the inconvenience.
Brown water coming from tap.
Standing water in and around water meter pit for several days in a row despite no rain, pit appears to be collapsing, holes developing around it. Could be a leak at water meter or other problem.
My water pit with the water main shutoff is filled with water. This a residential unit and my address is 8816 Morrison Court, Bloomington IN 47401.
I live north of town in Fairwood Terrace. Multiple people in the neighborhood, including myself, have reported problems with their water service. Water pressure is low. Not so low you can't take a shower but low enough that toilets don't flush and it takes awhile to fill a sink, let alone a bath tub. The water flowing out of the faucet stops every second or so then starts flowing again. Water pressure is significantly lower in mornings when people are up and getting about their day and again drops in the evening when people get home and perhaps start cooking meals, taking showers, etc. It is a little too soon to blame the problem on people watering grass and gardens. I called the Utilities department about the problem last week and was told I had a leak in my supply line and should call a plumber. I would be glad to do that and will anyway as the line to my house is some 60+ years old. But considering so many other people are having this problem it would be most appreciated if you could send someone out to investigate what's going on as there are too many with this issue for it to be supply ines to people's houses. We have many families int he neighborhood that really can't afford the $300+ bill to for a plumber to check their lines. I will even volunteer to pay a reasonable amount for the City to come out and check that the water supply is functioning properly. We could really use some help on this one. Dan Beeker
