I bicycle commute from Park Ridge East to Indiana Ave. following the bicycle path along the railroad. Due to the bypass construction last week I had to cross the working site where the path meets the bypass, or one time I crossed at the light on 10th street. This morning my crossing was muddy.
Detours for bicycles require more effort than detours for cars, especially in a hilly town like Bloomington. Moreover, they might require bicyclist to engage in high traffic stretches of roads or unsafe roads, as in the case I describe above.
It appears to me that inconveniences and changes affecting car drivers are taken into account when construction works are planned. It does not appear to me that the needs of bicyclist are ever taken into account in these occasions. What is the plan you have in place for those following my commuting route? For how long I will have to expect construction on the bypass affecting my commute?
Thank you,
Stefano Fiorini

Along Hagan St., which is at the rear of my property on Stonegate Ct., a mature Bradford Pear was split during the storms over the weekend. A large portion of the tree is now blocking the sidewalk, and I'm trying to determine the responsibility for clean-up. By my understanding, the tree is on city property as it sits between the sidewalk and Hagan St., but I understand that it may still be my responsibility. Please advise.

I would like for the City of Bloomington IN, to remove the median that was just placed in the middle of 3rd street. I believe this curb to cause traffic problems, potentially hazardous conditions, illegal motorist operation, and unnecessary spending. The median causes motorists unnecessary turning, and frustration. It also causes problems in emergency situations that can make it very dangerous for emergency personnel. There was in fact never a need for a median to be placed on this road. There were several fires last summer that took place in this median as a matter of fact that could have caused more problems, including personal injury to pedestrians, and motorists, and property damage. I believe this median was both a waste of time and money.

Shouldn't business like College Mall be responsible for cleaning the public sidewalks? They never get cleaned when it snows, turns to ice and makes it difficult to walk to work there. Is there anything that can be done (a little salt would go a long way!)

Why is there snowpiled up at the Bloomington Hospital bus stops? Pedestrians have to climb over piles of snow or else stand in the street.

Main streets in Bloomington and Normal were plowed and very passable yesterday. However, Chestnut, Allin and Mason streets did not fare the same. I left the facility at 6:00 pm last night and at that time the streets still appeared as if not plowed. In order to get from the lot to the building, staff and patients have to Cross Chestnut.
This morning when I came in at 7:30 am, the road conditions were not much better. Although the road did appear to be plowed, we had little mountains to cross at driveway and sidewalk intersections.
Since we are a 24 hour facility and have a pretty decent volume of patients (from pediatrics to geriatrics as well as some mobility assistance devices) and staff using this facility, we were wondering if there is a conversation to be had with the city.

My neighbor at 507 S Jordan Ave parked her van in the alley that runs between our properties. She's blocking my access to Jordan Ave and I'm unable to use my car this morning. She parked her van there on Thursday evening an it's still there this morning.
