A resident who wants to remain anonymous called Public Works Dept. to request that a staff member check to see if two metal stakes are with in our right-of-way. The stakes are making it difficult for vehicles to turn onto the north/south alley between 810 W. 7th & 811 W. 8th Streets. Citizen wants stakes removed if possible.

The North/South alley between 810 W. 7th and 804 W. 7th is being encroached upon by gardens, woodpiles, trees/vegetation and possibly the fence and cinder block garage owned by 810 W 7th St. As a result, the alley traffic is being diverted outside of the alley right of way and onto the private property located at 804 W. 7th. This appears to have been going on for a number of years. As the new owner of 804 W. 7th St., it is my full intention to re-claim the property/property line currently being encroached upon and proceed with renovations. I request that the Street Dept contact the owner of 810 W. 7th and order the encroachments be removed. With the assistance of a surveyor, I have located the NW and SW corner pins delineating the right of way and pounded new T posts just outside of the right of way in those spots and plan to post the entire property line once the encroachments are removed. Were I to reclaim the property line today, the alley would become impassible due to said encroachments. I request your assistance in remedying this situation in a civil and legal manner, as requests to the homeowner of 810 W.7th have fallen upon deaf ears. I request that you keep me in the loop regarding this issue. I would be happy to meet with a representative of the street dept, with survey in hand, to assist in clarifying and remedying this issue, as renovations of 804 W. 7th will begin in a few weeks. Non running older dark blue Volvo car with no license plate has been parked on the street for a month. Residents in the specific area such as myself are frustrated with parking being taken for someone who lives in the townhouses across street from 812 s Washington st that has its own parking lot.

I live at 710 E Maxwell Lane and have been having problems turning onto my street when coming from either direction on Henderson. There is an airb&b house on the S/E corner and renters often park right at the end of the street on a yellow curb. If they get a ticket they most likely ignore it since they are from out of town. The curb also needs to be repainted since the yellow has faded. I ask that someone do something about this including contacting the owner as well as towing offending owners cars.

The owners of this property currently have a contractor cutting an entire tree down, blocking the alleyway. They frequently have contractors and tenants of their airbnb in and out of their property, blocking the street, blocking cars in, encroaching on nearby property. No one in the adjacent properties were notified this would be happening. This tree is old and enormous, and one of a pair that was clearly planted together years ago. They're chopping it down instead of fixing their sewage - not illegal or a violation, but 100% selfish yuppie hogshit in keeping with everything else they've done.

This is a follow-up on ticket 167264. I want to thank you for installing the No Parking signs. Unfortunately, people are still parking in the bike lane just south of the train bridge on N. College. A black Jeep with Illinois plate E296690 has been parked there about since I started paying attention. Today, a white Ford SUV with temporary tag 25711S3 was even parked in the part of the lane with the yellow curb. Meanwhile, a police car drove past all of it. Please send some enforcement officials to remove or at least ticket these vehicles.
