The second question is about pruning - I have a friend over in the Crestmont area who walks to Butler Park often, and there are some trees on Fairview, where it intersects with 11th St, that just completely block the sidewalk there. It's absolutely impossible to walk on! Would it be possible for someone from the city to prune those trees? It's not simply a nuisance - you really are forced to walk directly in the street, and there's only a sidewalk on one side on that part of Fairview.

Woodlawn, alley between the Subway/apartment building and rental house. Shrubs block all traffic visibility. Pulling out onto Woodlawn, you can't see what's coming from the right/heading south. Not even pedestrians on the sidewalk can be seen. Dangerous to pull out here since you pull out blindly not knowing what's coming, but also very dangerous for pedestrians (and bikers/scooters) because we can't see them coming when we pull out. There is an IU parking lot in this alley, so it's used daily by several people who say a little prayer for safety every time they have to leave work from this location. This has been reported by colleagues more than once, but the building owner has never taken any action. Not even so much as to trim the shrubs back. In our opinion, the shrubs should be removed completely. Even by trimming, pedestrians still would not be visible.

Near corner of Woodlawn/Atwater: alley that exits onto Woodlawn between Subway/apartment bldg. and rental house is dangerous. Shrubs on corner of Subway/apartment bldg. completely block the line of sight for drivers pulling out of this alley onto Woodlawn. Nothing can be seen that is approaching from the north and heading south. Have to pull car partially into the roadway to see if anything is coming. This is a heavily used alley due to an IU parking lot, IU office building and student housing rentals whose parking can only be accessed through the alley. And the area, itself, is active. This is even more dangerous to pedestrians/bikes/scooters. We cannot see them approaching and THEY CANNOT SEE US, either. It was bound to happen sooner or later and could have ended in injury or death. Yesterday I almost hit a jogger who was heading south on the sidewalk as I was trying to pull out onto Woodlawn. I couldn’t see him approaching due to the shrubs. He also could not see me! The shrubs completely blocked his line of sight and he couldn’t see that a car was approaching. The city has known about this for at least two years and hasn’t done anything to address it. My colleagues and I have tried repeatedly to have this fixed. Three cases were found in my search, but I know that there are more because this has been ongoing for longer than two years. Case #161202, 9/18/17, second half of complaint reported this. The case was closed with no mention of it having been addressed. Case #164914, 6/21/18, and case #167848, 3/21/19, are both still open. With neither showing any update that this is being addressed. Why? How can this be left unattended for so long? A whole year for case #164914! At some point there is going to be a tragedy here and it’ll be on the city for not having addressed this after multiple hazard reports.

Wilmington Court Condos. There is a large evergreen tree (on Clarizz to the south of the entrance to the condos) that blocks the line of sight and causes traffic turning onto Clarizz from the condo entrance to pull out onto Clarizz to see oncoming traffic. The evergreen has grown over the sidewalk and into the street.
