When there are no cars in the way then please clear near curb so people can park. Please plow alley east of my house so I can leave..I park behind my house as I can't walk far. 5 ft pile of snow had to be shoveled from end of alley. 4wheel drive vehicles have used it but can't in my car. I'm a poor senior
elderly gentlemen phoned in that he shoveled his walk and a city plow truck went by and put at least 3-4 inches of snow back onto his sidewalk. He is extremely unhappy about this and wanted to file a complaint.
Hi--we love the work the city road crews do to plow snow and sand for safe travel. We do have one request for our cul-de-sac, though (Skylark Court, east off of Highland Avenue). We'd appreciate it if the plow drivers could return and plow the large pile of snow covering the lone storm water drain off to the side, so as to uncover the drain. Also, in the future, can they please avoid piling snow that storm water drain. It is the drain for the entire cul-de-sac. In the photo, this location is shown approximately by the red arrow. When snow is piled over this drain, as snow melts from anywhere uphill, or if it rains, the snow pile caps off the drain and the bottom of the cul-de-sac floods. The storm water drain is at the bottom of the cul-de-sac, which is all one slope, so A LOT of water runs to that one drain. One concern we have with the flooding is that several utility hook-ups (electricity, telephone, and cable) are just a foot or two away from the drain. Things have been done this way for years, and we have always taken it upon ourselves to shovel the drain clear, but this year we realized it would be a great idea to ask if the plow drivers could do this instead. Dear City of Bloomington, I want to begin by acknowledging the hard work and efforts of city employees during recent winter weather events. That work does not go unnoticed. However, the unfinished road conditions across the city are concerning. We are now over a week past the most recent snowfall, and many major roads within city limits remain uncleared or only partially cleared. Several roads still have lane blockages, inconsistent clearing, and obstructions that pose potential safety risks and increase the likelihood of accidents. When traveling in from surrounding rural areas, I expected conditions to be worse; however, county and state-maintained roads have been consistently attended to. Crews have been out daily addressing problem areas and ensuring all lanes—including shoulders—are cleared and returned to normal operating conditions. I respectfully ask that the City review the current road conditions within Bloomington and take the necessary steps to bring major roadways back to a safe and fully functional standard for residents and commuters. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
