Hello, I am writing to report that the rake/scraper for the bocce courts at Switchyard Park is missing, so as to make restoration of the courts possible only by bringing one’s own rake/scraper. Can you please tell me whether and when the rake/scraper will be replaced? Thank you!

Switchyard Park

Case Date:
9/14/2020

Hi there! First off, Switchyard Park is looking really good. I know finishing touches are still in process. I was excited to see that the dog parks are now open. However, several times now we've taken our small dog (below 25 pounds) to the small dog park only to see that number of people have their large dogs in the enclosure. It wasn't possible to use the park because the dogs were rather rough during play with the other dogs. The first time we thought maybe it was a fluke but the subsequent two times the same thing happened. The small sign on the placard isn't particularly visible so I'm wondering if it would be possible to have a sign directly on the entry gate labelled "small dogs" and a "large dog" sign on the opposite dog park gate? Perhaps you could also indicate either the weight maximum or example of standard dog breeds considered small v. large. I've seen such signs in other municipalities for their small v. large dog parks. Thank you!! Keep up the great work.

Hello, The volleyball court at Lower Cascades is falling apart. The net is pulled down and full of holes. Also the grass is creeping on the sand which does not make it a well defined court. The sand is also full of twigs and rocks. In addition, the nearby streetlight does not turn on so we can not keep playing after dark. My friends and I meet here every week to play because the Bryan park court is always taken. For all its faults it is dear to us so please fix it up so we and others may enjoy it for much longer. Thank you, Arin S.

Last two Sundays Switchyard park especially the playground has been covered in trash. The best part is that there have been multiple parks employees standing around some "picking up trash" in the same small area for long periods of time. Not sure if this is a "not my job" situation but it really wouldn't take much time if employees showed motivation in cleaning up the park.

A fitness organization called Bloomington United for Fitness is holding an exercise class in Olcott Park. I appreciate the need for outdoor space, however, they are using the paved trail for stationary exercises. Since these occur in one relatively narrow space, it is not possible to socially distance and because they are exercising, they are not wearing masks. Would it be possible to ask them to move to an area with more space in the park such as an open field not next to the path?
