Mr. Ward called to let us know that on several occasions he has seen folks drive back to the Wapehani Bike Park and dump brush and other debris. He knows what they're doing is illegal but doesn't want to get in trouble trying to catch them! He lives at the corner of Wapehani/Weimer roads and uses the park frequently and wants to see it taken care of. Also, has some questions about off-roading in the big open field by the park. Details: There is a large (4" diameter) limb broken and hanging over the paved pathway that goes through Park Ridge East Park. While it does not appear that it will easy fall, it is obvious that it is a potential hazard (especially with all the children playing). Please contact me if you cannot see what I am referring to! Can Olcott Park change out several if their "big kid" swings to toddler/baby swings???? The big kid swings are always empty and the toddler/baby swings usually have a wait.

I love your summer concerts and am a big fan. I was disappointed to find that Kaia, the women's singing group is not performing this year. I really enjoy them and they always attract big crowds. When I met one of them recently, by chance, I expressed my disappointment at their not performing in the parks this year and she said that they had applied but been turned down. I noticed that several artists are appearing twice, at different parks, so it can't be that you had too many applications.

Heather called and said there are older kids vandalizing the playground equipment and benches at Crestmont Park. She took her kids there yesterday and got paint all over her hair and clothes. She also said they are urinating on the slide(s) at night. Wants to know if we can do something about it. Please contact her.

I was at a cookout at Bryan Park this past week and noticed the orange slide near the shelter on the Woodlawn avenue side isn't very sturdy. The top of the slide where it connects to the rest of the structure only has one bolt and it looks as if it should have 4. A man there commented on how "treacherous" it was and wouldn't let his daughter play on it.

Ms. Hessman called Chris Truelock to offer free paint and other materials for the BBCC. When Chris went to Lowe's to pick upthe goods - Gayla said she called the BBCC because her two sons had gone there for various programs and had a great time. She said she found their experiences very positive.

Banneker Center: Ms. McKibben attended a lecture about gangs and was upset to find out they could exist in Blmtn. She contacted the probation dept and the Police Dept who told her the areas of greatest gang activity was BBCC, Kirkwood and the Mall. She withdrew both her children the Teen X-Treme Camp and wanted to know why we had not informed her of the risk. She questioned whether P&R was "burying their heads in the sand" about gang issues.
