There has been a group of (potentially homeless) people that have been staying at the corner near the building, I’ve always tried to avoid them while walking my dog but tonight their dog ran all the way across the street and attacked my dog. While security has told me not to walk my dog in the park past closing time they have driven past the group with the aggressive dog several times and not done anything. If Bloomington wants to enforce park hours then they need to do it to benefit safety as there are many people who walk their dogs near there every night, and having a 100 pound dog attack your dog is not good
Hello! Has Bloomington parks and rec ever looked into building a pump track in one of the parks? Kokomo has one: https://www.cityofkokomo.org/departments/northside_pump_track.php and Indy has one although it's not well advertised and very very small: https://parks.indy.gov/parks/sandorf-park/ I've never been involved in any of the city parks efforts before and have no idea what it takes to build for example the existing two skate parks at cascades and switchyard that cater more to street and vert/bowl skateboarding and other sports. I was very surprised to see that Kokomo has a pump track and we didn't. Thanks for any information you can provide !
Please keep introducing new no mow zones in public parks to increase the growth of native plant species and increase biodiversity in our town. Increasing these spaces can greatly improve the quality of life in the surrounding area, not just for humans but also for many crucial insects and animals in our city.
This afternoon 10-24-2024 I witnessed a school aged child (7/8 years old) defecate and urinate at the top of the largest playground slide at the Buskirk/Waldron Park. The feces and urine rolled down the entirety of the large slide. The parents cleaned the slide with a wet wipe as far as they could reach from the bottom, but surely not the whole length and definitely not sanitized. Can you please clean and sanitize the whole thing? Thank you!
sharps box (for needles / biohazard) at 9th street / rev butler park is full. the one at the bathroom at the top of the hill. thanks!
This is the 3rd time I have reported that the grass on the south side of the walking path around the Winslow Ball fields need cut, this is city property not privet property, also many of the thorny trees in the greasy area needs removed or cut down, they are a hazard to those who uses rhe walking path I do not know what company does mowing but they need to know to cut this mess! thank you.
Homeless people are again living in People’s Park. They’re using drugs, fighting, leaving trash everywhere, screaming and yelling, urinating and defecating and have taken over most of the benches and tables. It also appears that they are sleeping there overnight. We bought ice cream across the street and expected to have a nice Sunday afternoon in the park for thirty minutes or so… we tried sitting on the steps of a business on the opposite side of Dunn Street but the shrubbery nearby was probably soaked in urine based on the stench. We simply left at that point….. No other Indiana city of the same size and population has a homeless population of 1 % of that of Bloomington and that is directly attributable to the fact that Bloomington attracts these people by virtue of feeding them and enabling them unlike anywhere else in Indiana. I’ve lived in and near Bloomington since 1974 and this has simply gotten totally out of hand.
The lights in Peoples Park along the eastern edge of the park and on the 507 E. Kirkwood Avenue building are not operating, creating a haven at night for an overnight encampment of people, various belongings, litter, etc. The lights shine into the Park to create more visibility/safety for pedestrians/visitors.
