My not yet one and a half year old tried to use one of the baby swings (the baby swing closest to the shelter) at Lion's Den shelter/Upper Cascades playground. The holes are so small we could barely get her feet through and had to remove her shoes to do so. The band between her legs was too wide and the seat made her sit awkwardly. When the larger seat was available we switched to it and I noticed her knees and thighs were dirty, red, and irritated, as well as had indentation marks from the swing. (You can see the swing responsible in the background of the picture showing what it did to her leg in just a few minutes.) We were only in it for a few minutes. This is the first time we've ever encountered a problem with any baby swing. It needs to be adjusted or replaced.

Lots of speeding next to Park Ridge East Park, especially around corner of Morningside to Summerhouse. Was told they would have speed bump when constructed. Kids are definitely at risk. Can Summerhouse get a speed bump next to park or even removable road barriers or something. They should be using 3rd. But at least go slow next to kids.

Please turn back on the water fountains in the city parks. The CDS has advised that the risk of surface transmission of COVID-19 is minimal. Not having access to drinking water during these hot days is likely causing more harm than turning the fountains back on.

Campaigning now to have parks accomplish their master plan goal of more greenspace/parks on the east side… turn the giant old Macy’s parking lot into a park. Please this is never utilized as parking and it is just a bunch of concrete and pavement over there. The mall is dying but parks are not!

Hello. Today is the first day in 16 years that I am unable to walk my dog around the complex of Mills Pool and Park and Tri-North due to the impending closure and demolition of the old Tri North building. Fortunately, we still have the amazing Mills Pool and Park to walk my dog which I am so grateful for. It is my favorite park in Bloomington and my request is for some additional upkeep to the Mills Pool and Park due to these changes. There is a sidewalk that runs along the north (back) side of the pool that connects the east and west sides of the pool. This is also a flood plane and often floods with sediment and other natural materials when it rains. It gets tall weeds during the summer and is often a challenge to walk through due to all of these factors. I am asking that this sidewalk receive increased Parks and Rec attention to keep it an accessible walkway for the residents of our community. I am also asking that a dog waste receptacle with bags be placed in the Mills Pool and Park for the residents of our community to use to keep the park free of animal waste. Thank you for considering my requests! Gratefully!

Hi- Follow up on ticket 176107 that was resolved stating that I incorrectly used the term “irrigation.” Wanted to resubmit to say that the issue is a clogged drain causing a pretty deep puddle in the skate park when it rains. Was worried about all the kids, my own included, skating through it and not being able to see any obstructions in the water. Resubmitting as something other than “suggestion” and “irrigation” since it was pointed out that I don’t understand the definitions of those terms in the ticket response from before.

The new dog park at Switchyard is very pretty, but it lacks basic amenities to make it really useable. At the Ferguson park there is access to water in the park (not outside the gates) and it’s a spigot that can be used to fill a bowl. The setup at Switchyard makes it basically impossible to spend more than a few minutes in hot weather. Also, it looks like there was a plan to have a dog rinse area like at Ferguson, but it’s just an empty vestibule. Could you at least run a hose as a temporary measure? Especially if there are going to be permanent mud puddles right by the entrance. There’s also nowhere shaded/sheltered in the park. The pergola over the outer seating area looks cute but isn’t very practical. I’ve hiked the quarter mile with my dog on weekend days only to find no one there and had to leave basically immediately because the park is essentially unusable on a hot sunny day. Everyone is at the old park on those days.
