Leaves were never removed from Greenbriar, Mayfair, and Arden neighborhoods last fall. Snow fell on top making snow removal a mess. Potholes emerged making it even worse especially where Wilton and Greenbriar merge. Then last weekend - city crews were pumping what I presume to be leaves out of the storm sewer leaving a huge mess. The entry to our neighborhood now looks really bad. Crumbling roads covered with muck and piles of dead leaves. What does one need to do to bring attention to this? When will the leaves be removed and the roads be repaired and cleaned up?

Hi there,
I wasn't sure what section to file this complaint under, since it is related to a loud construction project that has been ongoing on High street for several weeks. There was no major issue up until today, August 6. It is now almost 10:30 PM and the construction has not finished for the night. There is a loud machine (a pump, maybe?) that has continually run since about 8:30 pm and is showing no sign of stopping. We have small kids who are sensitive to noise, and we live right next to the construction. I understand the workers have to complete their task, but to go this late at night seems disruptive to folks in the area.
Thanks.

The crews that installed the digital fiber in front of my house cut down some small trees, but didn't haul away the branches. The chipper truck came through and picked up tree debris from other yards, but not from mine. Can it still be picked up?

At about 8:30pm on 9/25/2024 a Marshall Security guy in a golf cart was blinding me and a friend with very bright LED lights as we were walking in Switchyard Park. This is unprofessional and unacceptable behavior the City must address with a contractor hired to keep the community safe. We were on a walking path that runs from the north side of the Skatepark to the B-Link crossing at Walnut. We were east of the skatepark and over the bridge before getting to the fence at Stryker Towing. This guy on the golf cart had his cart pointed from east to west in the middle of the path, right at us. The headlights are incredibly and painfully bright to look at in the night, causing us to shield our eyes to try to continue walking. He did not turn the lights off or try to angle away from us. He just sat there, pointing these very bright, LED lights right at us. The lights seem to be angled up and likely not the factory installed lights on the golf cart, something after market, intended to intentionally and knowingly render people unable to see as they approach.

8:04pm, Friday, November 8, 2024: A Marshall Security vehicle came out of Switchyard Park on the west side along Rogers without stopping, turned south on Rogers in front of traffic, and had a single headlight and a single taillight and no turn signals used. This was a small vehicle that has a small truck bed to it they use for patrols. This is not the first time I have seen Marshall Security disregarding traffic laws in that vehicle. Can the City address this? They need to repair the burnt out headlight and taillight as it is illegal to operate a licensed motor vehicle on the streets without those.

The unhoused encampment behind the IMI concrete plant on private property has continued to get out of control. This has been cleared out already and has now grown to the largest size to date. We have seen 50+ people on a daily basis back and forth. More and more of the unhoused have been cutting through private property on Cherokee Drive, leaving trash in yards, starting fights in the area, and continuing to scope out an abandoned house at the end of Cherokee to which the cops have been called out to at least twice. There is a brand new subdivision being built at the end of Cherokee and the area is finally being built up along with the addition of Switchyard Park. Bloomington has numerous services for the unhoused but camping on private property and causing issues to nearby neighborhoods should not be tolerated. The fear in the area is that this is becoming more and more unsafe as this encampment continues to grow in size. Please address this increasingly dangerous situation as soon as possible.

Unhoused folks are gathering in the tree line behind the soup kitchen and setting up camp. This is a residentially area that backs up against the mailboxes of the homes in the area. Found many needles and have often heard screaming and fighting in early hours of the morning.

Another homeless break in. Needles, human shit, garbage, broken windows. I’ve asked for more patrol here repeatedly

On a whim, I decided to watch the 2/25/25 BPW meeting on CATS this morning. I was very disappointed to hear the casualness that the closed sidewalk on Lincoln was handled. Whether it is contiguous or not, it is still one of the only options of refuge for a pedestrian to walk with relative safety. The impression I got from the city staff is that it is expected and welcomed for pedestrians to just use the road. I understand that construction needs to happen, I just hope that in the future pedestrian considerations are treated with more care even if it is a small section! This is a long enough project (June 2027!) that I hope staff can look and see if other options are available.

On 1/24/2025 and 9:15 AM on bus #0348, I observed the strong odor of and could see smoke-haze from deisel exhaust backing up into the public bus. I have spoken to Bloomington Transportation dispatch and customer service and was told that, "That is just part of the bus's regenerative re-uptake process." When they refused to take this matter seriously in the past, I contacted the EPA. The EPA shall be contacted again on this issue since neither the city nor bus company will take this matter seriously, which inevitably affects the city's rating with the EPA as a green-friendly city.
Sincerely,
Timothy MacKenzie
