Subject: Re: uReport Case #162510 - 3433_E._Third_St._property_needs_owner_attention Mike Arnold -- An update from a coupe weeks past on this address, I have been been busy or else would have sent a message sooner. 2/10/18: I reported to Bloomington Police the north, back of house, doors open. Lower door wide open, upper door open but storm door closed. Officers (six) arrived and cleared the house, Windows are still unlocked and storm windows may be opened as they are not closed in place on nearly all windows. Please make contact with the owner and request that they close all windows and check the two doors so they may be closed and locked. I have mentioned to you in the past, on the lower door, stone wall has fallen and mud prevents storm door to close. This needs attention. Please be more aggressive in your home owner contact. Monitoring this house and follow up on securing the house is now using Police time and resources. Plus my time and others neighbors concern that the house is being entered by homeless and others trespassers. It appears a mess inside and needs attention. If you cannot get results on this homeowner's negligence, see history back to 2004 where the city has sited issues, I will follow up with the Mayor and City legal. This needs to be solved to hold the homeowner accountable for action before something bad happens; house fire, frozen water pipes, trespassers cause issues. If you can, please tell me who the homeowner is and their contact information. I am willing to contact them to discuss issues (as the Neighborhood Association representative) - plus Bloomington Police wish to make contact. Second Report: House at 717 North Maple has been long abandoned, windows are broken and anyone could get in; at risk of becoming a drug house. (Address on map is incorrect - I wish there was a way to enter a street address into the map)

The property at 411 E Glendora looks abandoned and in bad repair. It was on Zillow as rental property. There is an old car on site and it has windows broken out. There is also a discarded chair at curb. Can you please direct me to proper office to report the property. I drive by it everyday and it’s getting worse and definitely an eye sore. Thank you

I have been dealing with a leak from the upstate department for seven weeks now. I have spent my own money and my own time to redirect the leak. I have had to move furniture in my living room and bedroom. I spent multiple shop vac, moving furniture, vacuuming, and spraying the carpet. I have had absolutely no help from the summit point staff after making six submissions for their help. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Heard Green Acres wants a conservation district. This is an inappropriate use of historic preservation protections. Historic preservation should be to preserve history, not to prevent development as a NIMBY tactic. This area should be able to grow and evolve to meet the density and environmental priorities of the City. There are other areas that have superior and unique historic structures. Don't make a joke of historic preservation. Please include this in public comment in the packet. The City needs a plan for historic preservation of choosing key areas of the City to protect. Blocking general development helps no one. Areas adjacent to campus should maximize student housing for the benefit of all residents.

I hope someone from the appropriate city department can help me with a tree issue on my neighbor's property that is endangering my home. Perhaps someone could contact them and request that they need to remove the tree or trim it. It is an investment property for them, which they do not live in, so they have not been keen on addressing it. I recently purchased this house at 1017 W Howe St. During the recent storms, one of the large silver maple trees at my other neighbor's property fell into my roof, destroying the back half of my home and causing extensive mold and flood damage. I am trying to address the issue with the trees now so this does not happen again to any of us. I only received half my claim amount from my insurance due to nonrecoverable depreciation and the deductible, which is only enough to replace the roof, though there has been extensive interior damage and flooding as well. Upon looking into the surrounding trees and contacting some folks about it, I have learned that my neighbors to the left of my house have been aware that their tree that is growing over my roof has extensive heart rot and is hazardous. The people who owned the home before them were landlords and were aware of the issue as well, but chose to sell the home when the tree destroyed their roof some years back, rather than cutting it down as needed, and it still hasn't been addressed. The people I purchased my home from said they had an arborist come do an examination and recommended that the tree needs to be removed, or at least trimmed back so it is not endangering my home should it fall, and it is likely to. I have also had multiple tree companies come do estimates for me regarding other tree work, given the damage that has occurred, as well as roofing contractors and chimney contractors. All of them say the tree is dangerous and needs to come down. I have included an image from the back of my home, and the tree in question here is the one on the right of the image.
