I accidentally parked in a handicapped spot on the street of Kirkwood to run in and get something from the graduate. I have a IU handicap tag because I broke my foot 2 months ago. I didn’t know at that point that they were different! I am so sorry! I really wasn’t allowed to to walk much with my boot and it is hard to get around so when I saw the handicap spot I thought it would be okay because I had a tag but didn’t know the difference between the IU handicap and a regular one. I am deeply sorry and I already graduated so I had a broken foot the last months of senior year and obviously it won’t happen again. I would never want to take away spots from anyone that needs them! I attached my handicap for IU tag and wasn’t able to attach the picture of the citation but it is number 26205501221

MONDAY, MAY 18, IT IS POURING RAIN. THERE IS A HANDICAP PARKING SPACE AT THE CORNER OF KIRKWOOD AND WASHINGTON. THE STREET AND THE SIDEWALK ARE FLOODED. THERE IS NO PARKING METER. INSTEAD THERE IS A HARD-TO-READ SIGN ON A POST, DETAILING HOW TO PAY FOR SAID PARKING SPACE. REALLY? HOW IS A HANDICAPPED PERSON EXPECTED TO EXIT A VEHICLE IN POURING RAIN, NAVIGATE A FLOODED STREET AND SIDEWALK, HOLD AN UMBRELLA IN ONE HAND, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY INPUT THE REQUIRED INFORMATION INTO THEIR PHONE? SERIOUSLY? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH EASIER AND SAFER TO USE A PARKING METER. HOW ABOUT INSTALLING A PARKING METER SO HANDICAP FOLKS GOING TO THE BUSKIRK-CHUMLEY THEATRE AREN'T RISKING LIFE AND LIMB JUST SO THE CITY CAN GET A COUPLE OF MORE BUCKS? Vehicle parked overnight less than the 15-foot clearance from fire hydrants mandated by Indiana Code (§ 9-21-16-5). This house tends to violate this Code most weekends, but it has been hard to get a parking enforcement officer out here on the weekend. Do parking enforcement officers work on the weekend?
