Good morning, I am just curious if our trash and recycle will be picked up this week. I am at 1110 N Jackson Street. Our trash/recycle did not get picked up for two weeks during the holidays and it became an issue where we could not fit all of our recycle in the bin within your guidelines and had to keep it another week. This morning we had trash pick-up and I also had two cans with yard waste. I happened to see that the sanitation workers emptied our neighbor's and our yard waste into the trash truck. Why is that? I was shocked to see that happen.
Not a huge deal so long as it doesn't keep happening but only half of my cart was dumped in Park ridge East this week. (Trash, recycling was fine) Are they using automatic grabbers now? Please try to make sure it comes out of the can! Thank you
I live on a corner lot and always bring trash to the "front" for collection. Would it be fine to leave it on the side yard instead since a street is there too for pickup? It's a much shorter drag of the bins there. Thank you.
It would be useful, and I think easier for the sanitation department, to have an online form to request large item pick up, rather than having to call in. I was hoping to have a large item of trash picked up with my regular trash today, Monday. I called this past Friday, not realizing the sanitation department was closed on Fridays. They called me back today (Monday) and left a message. By the time I was able to call back, it was too late for anybody to pick up the item, so I have to wait until next week.
I do not see a way on the website to give feedback so I am using this form. I would ask that you forward the information to the Sanitation Department. I was reading the proposed changes to the trash pick-up at https://bloomington.in.gov/sanitationmodernization. It states that the new rates would be $6-$18/month. This penalizes families who work hard to reduce waste. For the past decade or more we have averaged fewer than 8-10 bags of garbage a year. You are proposing that I now start paying a monthly fee whether I put out garbage or not. I will not belabor the point, but you are asking me to go from paying $16/year to, at best, $72/year. This would not appear to incent conservation in any way.
Trash in my neighborhood (Clifton, Hunter, 2nd St., Eastside, etc.) was not picked up today, Monday, including my trash. I hope it will it be picked up.
I have been unable to get through to Sanitation, so I am using this source to ask 2 questions. How many gallons do the current trash cans hold? I'm asking about the cans which the city now limits in size. Will I be able to change to a different size should my guess about what my needs will be under the new system? Max Skirvin
