There is a very dangerous vehicular traffic pattern on S Woodlawn Ave between Sheridan Dr and E Hillside Dr, especially near the Grimes & Woodlawn and Weatherstone & Woodlawn intersections. There is a blind hill on Woodlawn that greatly decreases visibility for everyone. North @ south-bound vehicles on Woodlawn regularly break the speed limit by 20+ MPH and have even seen estimated speeds of 70+ mph. Sometimes vehicles "floor it" on Woodlawn southbound from Sheridan Ln stop sign. The city should consider installing a STOP sign on Woodlawn @ Grimes intersection to decrease the speed of North & South-bound traffic on Woodlawn Ave. The city should also consider additional signage to protect pedestrians who are crossing from Weatherstone Ln to Bryan Park. I have almost been hit there several times by speeding cars and trucks. This is a primary route for cyclists, pedestrians, commuting students, and dog-walkers. Pedestrians and cyclists crossing Woodlawn anywhere between Hillside and Sheridan Ave risk injury and death by vehicles speeding up and down the blind hill. The City has done a great job getting the traffic lights between 1st street onward north on Walnut Street timed so that driven at the speed limit, one can easily drive on Walnut without hitting any red lights. This greatly decreases traffic, improves commute time, and increases gas mileage. It's a pleasure to drive through these timed lights.. except... The new light at Walnut and Smith is not incorporated with the other timed lights. It's a good light for the parents who are dropping their children off at the Project School, and I understand the need for it, but it appears that light is triggered by a vehicle waiting on Smith Ave, and the trigger occurs very quickly once a vehicle stops there to wait. I'm sure this is fine during school hours, as not many vehicles use that light, but during the morning traffic flow, many parents use that light, and that signal interrupts the flow of traffic on Walnut. This could be fixed by eliminating the trigger based on a waiting vehicle on Smith, and incorporating that light with the other timed lights. This traffic pattern works well for all of the other cross streets, I don't see why it would be an inconvenience for anyone waiting at the light on Smith. Thank you!

I work for IU Campus Bus Service. Saturday, we were driving a special service that necessitated that we use the new portion of Woodlawn Avenue. (Once the railroad crossing is complete, buses will go up and down Woodlawn Avenue from the Stadium to Campus and back about 70 times a day during the week.) I noticed that a vehicle was parked on Woodlawn just north of 14th St. on the east side of the street blocking the bike lane, but mostly out of the lane of car traffic. I also noticed there are no "No Parking" signs on this new stretch of Woodlawn. Can those be added to prevent people from parking here? Thank you.

Topic: West 16th, Hancock Dr., and West 15th section through/beside Crestmont Park. This is a beautiful, and I believe under-appreciated stretch of street. Quiet, park setting with trees. However, there is one problem - the road is extremely narrow. Too narrow. If a car is coming one way and encounters a car coming the other way, one has to stop and pull half-way off the road for the other to get by. This is particularly problematic because the blacktop drops off several inches right at the edge and the soil at the edge is often washed out in certain areas. Another issue is that some drivers drive entirely too fast through here and then cut the corner at the bottom of the hill too tightly - this has practically run me off the road in the past. I don't wish to suggest that this section of street be widened. That would ruin its park-like atmosphere. What I would like to suggest is this: Starting at Lindbergh, W. 15th, Hancock, and W. 16th up to Monroe St be made one-way westbound. Then, the section of Lindbergh between W. 15th and W. 17th be switched to one-way northbound once 17th is reopened. I don't think that much traffic normally comes up Lindbergh where it would create that much more traffic on W.16th, etc. Perhaps put down counters to check, but it would cut out the traffic from one way and make the road more safe. Even if none of this is pursued, one thing that is definitely needed are "SLOW" signs and "PARK" signs. There may be a sign marking that there is a ninety-degree curve does in the bottom, but if not, there needs to be one of those too. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you will give this some consideration - at least definitely the part about the signs.

Just a suggestion, it would be helpful to have a crosswalk from Bloomington HS South from or around the faculty parking lot and or where the busses line up to a side walk. Currently, students are just crossing the street and it’s really unsafe.

Eastbound traffic is reported as often blowing through the stop sign - either not noticing it and/or unable to anticipate it, creating unsafe conditions at the intersection.

New traffic light installed on second street at twin lakes. Specifically in the morning during rush hour (7:00-8:00), traffic that is heading east on second street backs up because of it. Traffic can be backed up all the way to the other traffic light at Basswood Dr. The light changes quickly to allow 1 vehicle to come out of Millenium Apts but doesn't change back quickly to allow the traffic to flow on second street.

Cars coming south on Walnut Street up from Indiana business 37 and wanting to turn left into Blue Ridge run a great risk of being rear-ended by cars, which often exceed the speed limit. Our Blue Ridge intranet has recently been discussing this issue and would like to see the city address the issue in some way after investigation

I want to report a suggestion I feel would be helpful to the neighborhood of Sycamore Knolls. I live on Arden Dr, and believe the Arden Dr/High St. intersection is becoming more and more dangerous with the influx of young families moving in. As the only stop sign on that stretch of High Street, year after year I see near misses with pedestrians and cars at this intersection. I believe that if reflection strips or retarder strips were laid down at this 4 way stop more people would be aware of the stop sign being there and make a complete stop. Please let me know how I can move this issue forward, also on the south east side of the 4 way stop the tree limbs at times cover the stop sign upon approaching the intersection.
