1. one-way sign on SW corner is obstructed by pole-saw someone turn right off Atwater yesterday. 2. Can walk symbol flash across Atwater (south side) regardless of if someone hits the button? It's same pedestrians as Indiana/3rd intersection, and that one always shows "walk." Feels safer if they had the same behavior! Thanks :)
The metal drain cover in front of Mother Bear's at 1428 E Third Street has fallen in (again). It clearly is not stable and one day someone may trip over it.
See closed case #184736: in front of Mother Bear's on E Third Street. The metal drain cover on the sidewalk again has fallen in and is a tripping hazard for pedestrians. Maybe it is time to look for a more permanent solution rather than just putting it back in its place.
Why is all traffic being dangerously rerouted through residential neighborhoods on the east side from the construction?
The corner of Moores Pike and Claris currently has flashing Yellow lights to help pedestrians cross Moores Pike. Drivers view yellow lights as a call to speed up not Stop. I walk there frequently but cars seldom slow or stop Sometimes the cars speed up, either to beat the light or to run over me. Perhaps it would help to change the lights to red which means Stop. Or install a regular stop light. Also, at the Southeast corner of Hillside Dr and College Mall Rd. The crossing light turns on when the vehicles turn right from Sare Rd onto Hillside Dr. This is very dangerous for the pedestrian since the corner is not visible to the cars turning right. On March 2, 2016, I submitted a question about the lack of painted crosswalks for pedestrians crossing 3rd Street at Jordan Avenue. I received a prompt reply from Matt Smethurst, saying that the intersection would be torn up soon for stormwater improvements, and the crosswalks would be completed after that. There was indeed work completed over the summer, and the curbs now look very nice, but almost a year after my original question, there are still no crosswalks painted in the street. Are they going to appear sometime?
I was struck that there are pedestrian ramps on the south side of W. 3rd St. This indicates to me, as a pedestrian, that there is an intention for me to be able to cross Patterson Blvd. Having done this on multiple occasions, I take my life in my hands: there is a right-hand turning lane on Patterson at 3rd. Many vehicles turn right onto Patterson while traveling east on 3rd, and don't anticipate a pedestrian. There is no crosswalk at this location, which will be imperative with the new retail development just west of this intersection. While I doubt that there are many pedestrians crossing here, you may as well anticipate a crossing signal, which would be a kindness.
Many students cross 10th Street near John Hinkle Pl. to get to the #6 bus stop. Should a safety survey be conducted in this location?
My daughter very nearly hit her elbow on this new sign. May we suggest that instead of this hard to see danger to bikers, we paint the poles with reflective stripes, and remove the sign? Pretty please? We use this route for multiple daily bike trips.
Sand & gravel here is very deep. Makes it hazardous to bike through. Whenever we get a good rain, the sand & gravel always reappears.
