The tree/roots between the sidewalk and road between 2704 and 2702 E Brigs Bnd has caused the sidewalk to tilt and hold water. This will pose an icy surface and is difficult with my walker. I also am concerned the water will cause damage to my driveway. Is this something you can look into. Thank you. V/R Kenneth Crevier
There is no sidewalk for the church, bus stop, or any of the small businesses on the west side of S. Leonard Springs Road. This road is very busy and while one side of the road is paved, the other side is very dangerous. Please install sidewalks on the west side of S. Leonard Springs Road.
Good news: curb cuts being added on E Covenanter! Bad news: desperately needing oversight and quality control. This curb cut FAILS several accessibilty standards.
I've noticed a lot of people walking from the apartment complex out to the main road on this street and I wanted to send a report to see if someone could either trim the foliage to ensure people can walk on the side of the road or if a sidewalk could be created down South Oakdale Drive to protect pedestrians. Is the City responsible for retaining walls alongside walkways or does it fall on adjacent property owners to maintain them? On the Lincoln side of this property there is an old wall that is just about to collapse. It seems that if a team of masons got in there now prior to its failure, they might be able to take it apart somehow and reset it so that it will last another 130 years. But if it were to fall on its own, the stones would likely all break up and be useless trash. Property owner (Parker Rentals) is aware of the potential problem, but they do not seem to care. The surrounding area has many retaining walls that add character to the community. It would be great if this one could be saved.
I'm an IU Bloomington student who walks to the stadium everyday to take the IU buses to class. There are no sidewalks on my walk from Brownstone Terrace to the stadium which forces me to walk on the side of the road, where student drivers who don't pay attention swerve around me at the last second. Additionally when the weather is bad, I'm even forced to walk in the road, putting myself at risk to get hit by a car. I'm also proposing more off campus lighting & would love to meet with someone about these issues to come up with an effective plan. It's unsafe walking home from a late night class or to an early morning class & not being able to see your surroundings. Some of the city lights don't even work. If more light poles were installed, it would reduce the off campus crime rate. The city of Bloomington, not IU, is reponsible to address these issues because it's there property.
