Live fires nightly with noxious fumes all night every night, at least since the last weekend on May. Squatters camp seems well-established with bicycle parking, wood pile, several tents. Can fire trucks even get back there in a timely fashion? We feel unsafe. There is a difference between homeless, itinerants, and squatters. These appear to be squatters.

Response to 189024 -- If the fires are happening daily at the homeless camp along the Rail Trail, and the fire department (MFPD) has been out twice this month, yet the fires continue, why would there not be an option to take some level of preventative enforcement action as opposed to reactive only that is not solving the underlying issue? This would be a daily call to 911 if people in the area called every time there was a large, illegal fire. Is that the best use of resources, as opposed to the City cleaning the area up, removing those illegally burning on City property, and preventing any future fires from being started by those illegally camping on the property? The City refuses to address the problem, the county has to roll a truck out here due to the City's inaction, and the adjacent property owners suffer. All to protect illegal activity!

Live fires nightly with noxious fumes and firefighters cannot access behind my home in event of an emergency. Please come see the situation fir yourself. It's dangerous. We are unsafe due to people squatting on public property yet allowed to break the law with open fires, territorial dogs, shouting and cursing all day, using the forest for a toilet.... Please come see. Help us property owners especially with 4th of July coming up. In case of fire or emergency, services have no access. That is simply unacceptable. Please help.

The Avenue refuses to fix their faulty fire alarm system and may be abusing it. Residents do not know if the alarms are real or not. This is resulting in people staying in their apartments when the alarm goes off. This is extremely dangerous and people’s lives may be at stake.
The Avenue is solely responsible for this mess

I believe it started night of Tues 3/29/22 or Wednesday 3/30/22. 1261 S Adams has a malfunctioning fire system. It will go off at random intervals for a couple minutes up to 15 minutes at a time at all hours. The building has been losing sleep and the apartment has failed to correct it as of 4/1/22 at 9:20pm. I've been trying to call the admin office of the fire dept all day with no luck. My concern is, is the fire system even working and what happens if there is a real fire. We have a questionable system the apartment complex cant give me an answer if its actually going to work in an emergency. I called their after hours maintenance guy last night and apparently he lives 30 minutes away. I do not feel this complex is on top of fire safety and is not putting the wellbeing of its residents first.
