Theo scooter parked in the middle of the sidewalk on the south west corner of the intersection
I was walking on the sidewalk near 4th and walnut and 5 scooter riders rode by me and one ran me over! I thought there were supposed to be restrictions on where scooters could be ridden and parked. I frequently see them parked in handicapped ramps. They are polluting our city and making it less accessible.
There is a Lime scooter blocking the driveway to the 6th Street Garage of the Monroe County Public Library. The garage and driveway are both used daily by our facilities and mobile outreach staff. I drive the Outreach Van and the scooter is parked in such a way that it blocks my ability to pull in and reverse the van in order to to load and unload it with materials for community members.

Follow-up Case #179422. "Good afternoon, sorry for the delay in response, I was unsure of who to send this type of case. Forwarding to Parking Services thank you" Two comments: 1) after several years and lots of scooter complaints (media, uReport, etc.) it's strange that it wasn't routine where to refer it 2) maybe that explains why not a single ticket has been for improperly parked scooters. Anyhow, I suggest that routine monitoring of sidewalks (downtown at least) be assigned to Parking Enforcement
Scooter parked across the width of the sidewalk at 714 E First, Sunday afternoon.
The BMCMPO received the following message/question from Mr. Sam Melchior (dsamuelm375@gmail.com) who asked the following: "Hi, I was wondering if there is any consideration of geo fencing the IU campus and downtown to control the dangerous use of e scooters. They are terribly dangerous and do not provide the safe eco friendly transportation advertised. Sam, a concerned citizen " We would ask that someone respond to Mr. Melchior regarding the geofencing of scooters within the City of Bloomington. Thanks, Pat Martin Planning & Transportation Department
