Street & Traffic Signs

220 N Madison ST

Case Date:
10/19/2022

First off, I want to say thanks for the stop sign that was recently installed on 7th St at the B-Line trail crossing. This is much appreciated but I have a suggestion for a small change to help improve safety even further. I walk that intersection multiple times a day and see cars that seem to think it is a 4-way stop. If a car stops (and TBH most do not stop) I have seen multiple cases where the car thinks they then have the right away and proceed in front of crossing bikes and pedestrians. My suggestion is to add signage that says "cross traffic does not stop" or similar which is very common for other 2 way stops around the city. That would just be one more sign to the drivers that the trail traffic has the right away and is not required to stop. Thanks!

Street & Traffic Signs

2755 E Canada Dr Suite 102, Bloomington, IN 47401, USA

Case Date:

The intersection of E Canada Drive and S Heirloom Dr is a dangerous intersection with no right of way or stop sign. There have been several cars that have been hit or almost hit at this intersection. To add to the problem, there is no clear line of site when cars are parked on left side of the road as you head towards S Heirloom Dr for cars on S Heirloom to turn safely onto E Canada Dr. I would suggest either no parking signs and a stop sign be installed, or double lines be placed on the road and a stop sign.

We live in Meadowood a retirement community off 45/46. We have two entrances, one on Dunn and other Milo Sampson. Both areas have issues with people running stop signs.. a lot!! Coming in from Dunn street.. there is a 3 way stop at Dunn and Tamarack Trail. The traffic on Dunn is supposed to stop .. most of the time it’s a slow and go situation and other times it’s a don’t even slow down situation. This happens a lot. When we are leaving Meadowood and stopped at 3 way we are shocked at the number of vehicles that don’t stop. It’s a very dangerous situation for people on tamarack The Milo Sampson entrance to Meadowood also has a 3 way stop. The main problem is traffic coming off 45/46 down the hill.. they mostly don’t stop at all and continue on into the IU facility. And same goes for when vehicles leave the IU facility. It’s especially bad in the mornings when staff arrive for work at IU. We are an older crowd and enjoy walking in Meadowood area and the vehicles just don’t obey the stop signs Can something be done?? Flashing lights on stop signs?? Thank you. I’ve also contacted the city about the trash along Milo Sampson but told IU maintenance does that.. and have contacted them numerous times but no action Karen Johnston

Street light to cross Moore’s Pike at Clarizz is missing. But many drivers ignored the yellow flashing light and accelerated through the light. I think a regular stop light would be more effective.

Is there a reason for not having crosswalks or crossing lights in this intersection (Eagleson ave x Law ln)? There is a lot of foot traffic here and it seems weird that there is not any safety infrastructure for pedestrians.

Please remove the One Way sign that is on the North side of third street near S Mitchell. There is one on the left which clearly lets you know the traffic coming from the left is one way towards you, however this one make it look like you can turn right into the parking lot on the north side which has so not enter signs. It is unnecessary and confusing.

Street & Traffic Signs

908 N Walnut St, Bloomington, IN 47404, USA

Case Date:
8/2/2022

Car and truck drivers regularly speed down 12th Street between Walnut and Indiana, and do so at all hours. Now, in addition to that they have been racing up Lincoln Street between 10th and 12th, likely to avoid the traffic lights at 10th/Walnut and the new one at 11th/Walnut. Fully half of the speeding vehicles have "Dominoes" pizza signs on the roof. Why did the City allow a junkfood delivery service to be situated where they could race through a residential neighborhood? Is there a way to prevent the delivery drivers from using 12th Street and Lincoln unless they have actual deliveries in the neighborhood? Or at least slow them down a bit. It seems like a Stop sign at 11th/Lincoln would help on that street, and two Stop signs on 12th (at Lincoln and either Washington or Grant) would make it safer. PLEASE do something about this. It can only get worse if/when "The Standard" is ever done and occupied. It will be a nightmare unless the City is proactive and puts up Stop signs where they are warranted. (And the arguement that "No one stops at Stop signs" used by the traffic board in the past is specious. If true, why then are there any stop signs put up anywhere?

Atwater & Fess Ave, Bloomington, IN 47401, USA

Case Date:
7/25/2022

Could we have increased signage at Atwater and Fess indicating that cross traffic does not stop? This additional sign could be affixed to each of the current stop signs. This location is particularly prone to near-misses as the parking garage invites visitors into town who don't necessarily realize that Atwater is a major East artery for the town.

It would be great to have a no parking to corner sign here. From a biker's perspective, it is uncomfortable for oncoming traffic/turning traffic, if a car is parked near the stop sign/line.

The intersection of the alley at between Wilson and Driscoll on the east side of Dunn street and Driscoll street has poor visibility and many cars rush through the alley and cause crashes on Driscoll. We need a stop sign on the alley to prevent these accidents.
