Good morning, The 4th Street Art Festival will be Labor Day weekend. Our artist will be setting up 15 foot tall tents along the curb of 4th Street between Lincoln St and Dunn St. There are some trees that will need their lower branches trimmed so that they are not damaged by the tents and vice versa. The following trees that could pose a problem are located at the following locations: Tree between 405 and 407 E 4th St (North side of Street) Tree across from 424 E 4th St (North side of street) Tree across from 430 E 4th St (North side of street) Ivy covered Tree at 424 E 4th St (South side of street) Tree at 402 E 4th St (South side of street) Thank you for your help. We truly appreciate it. Sincerely, Brenden King Director 4th Street Festival of Arts & Crafts

There is a pine tree along Woodlawn just north of Hillside that is leaning dramatically. Seems like a risk to both the nearby power lines and the street. Thanks.

Hello. I recently read that many cities (more than in the past) only are planting male trees as less fruit than female trees for cleanup. Something along those lines. Anyways in short the male trees (from what I have read) are wind-blown pollen versus insect-transmitted for female. Short of it, is that all male trees is causing a big increase in suffering among those such as myself with tree pollen allergies. So please do more fruit trees/female trees. Plus fruit/food producing trees are just so much more awesome for a community. Apparently it's called botanical sexism amongst urban planners and it is increasingly recognized as a big problem. We NEED more female trees to remove pollen from the air; I could hardly breathe today. Thank you for considering diversifying the sex of Bloomington trees. I am hopeful we already are focusing on mixed or exclusively female trees and not falling into the trap of botanical sexism of male only.

I have a community tree that was planted a couple of years ago. I reported last year that I thought it was dead and someone came out and assessed it and put something around the trunk to protect it. It still looks dead and does not have new buds forming on it. Our neighbors across the street also had one planted and it is thriving and showing new growth. I believe the one on our property is dead. It is a Black Tulelo located at 1628 S. Troy Ct.

East of Jamie on Rhorer rd, the trees are growing and making it difficult to see the west bound cars on Rhorer from Jamie Ln. last year you mowed this a few times and it really helped! Thank you!
