A tree planted by the city a few years ago was damaged by the storm today, June 25 2023. A large branch has fallen, blocking the sidewalk. It is too large for us to move. The city will have to remove it and probably plant a new tree.

As I reported last year (ticket #181156) there is poison ivy on one of the street trees in the tree plot. These trees are in the Treekeeper database and so I must assume that they are under the city's care. The photo here shows a robust, hairy vine and the berries have come in. It needs to be removed before the birds poop the seeds around.

The city trees between the sidewalk and street lower branches are in the way of walkers and some are dead and brittle posing a safety issue for pedestrians.

In Bryan Park and Elm Heights, most (all?) tulip poplar trees are dripping honeydew. I am an entomologist and know that this is fairly normal but I’ve never seen it on such a large portion of trees.

There are a number of trees on the south side lane of Gentry Blvd. just off Highway 446 that are low hanging and scrape the top of cars. They are particularly low at the intersection of Gentry Boulevard and Gentry Court. Please send crews to trim them to remove the hazard.

There is a hollow maple tree on city property at the corner of East 11th Street and Walnut Street. There is currently an active bee hive in it. Given how close the tree is to houses in the area, the fact that the tree is hollow is cause for concern. If the tree and the bee hive could be assessed, that would be appreciated. Thank you!

We watched as a swarm of bees relocated themselves to a large Maple tree at the corner of 11th and Washington. We are not concerned having the bees around, and love the tree, but have some concern for the health of the tree. The bees entered the tree through several openings, so it is obviously hollow to some extent. I am asking if you have someone to assess the tree since it is on city property. Thank you.
