Mary Norman 411 West Howe Street Bloomington, IN 47403 To Whom: I am writing to ask if a streetlamp be installed between my property and the property next door. These properties are: 411 (mine) 413 (AirBB)… as this is the only way to our back doors and parking lot. There is a utility pole already set in the ground and wires attached. The south side of Howe Steet is where I live – there are 4 of us that have property here. • Odd Fellows (corner of Madison and Howe) they occupy that house once a month for a meeting. • My property – 411 West Howe – I am a fulltime resident and owner occupied. • 413 West Howe is an AirBB and is only occupied now and then. • Rehab house on the corner of Rogers and Howe – 4 units occupied off and on with only men It is very very dark on this street along with tree foliage that blocks out any light, On the corner of Madison and Howe is a streetlamp but it is dim and doesn’t cast a lot of light. As a single woman in elder years, I try to walk as much as I can but restricted at night due to the darkness surrounding this street. I installed a motion light on the roof of my house, but it only shines with movement. I am willing to pay or partial payment of installing a streetlamp between 411 and 413 west Howe street. There is a short street that separates these two houses and the only way to get to our parking lot and back door. Homeless people walk thru our backyard traveling to and from Shalom Center and the park up a block on Howe Street. Yesterday I saw a homeless person “peeing” between my neighbor’s trash and recycle bins. There is no respect for personal property in our back area. We butt up to the apartment building on Second Street. Countless times police are there with lights flashing. It really is NOT safe around here without proper lighting. Please set up a time for someone to visit this area during evening hours. It will surprise you that you cannot identify who is walking down Howe Street… AGAIN, I would be willing to fund the lamp as would the owners of the AirBB. We have discussed the security issue and pathway our back yard becomes. Thank you for taking the time to read my concern and solution. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. The area along the south side of Rose Hill cemetery on W. 3rd St, west from Walker until the lights from Cresent Donut and the Marathon station has NO street lighting. This is a corridor that often has the homeless headed to Wheeler Mission. I have driven on it at night and found people walking and a guy in a wheelchair as well in the west-bound travel lane of this roadway -- virtually invisible! Until Beacon's new facility is built, which I am sure will have outdoor lighting, this is unsafe for the bicyclists and pedestrians who travel this piece of the old Whitehall Pike.

It’s very dark on this cul de sac and there have been numerous break ins to cars as well as homeless people evicted from Switchyard now coming thru our area. How do we get a street light installed

My girlfriends car,as well as several neighbors cars, were broken into last night around 3am. Neighbors have cameras but they didn't capture faces, at any rate, the nearest streetlight is at the intersection of S. Madison St. and Graham St., and the entire neighborhood south of that is pitch black despite the fact that there are several family's with small children. I'm sure the culprits where most likely the homeless population camping out in higher numbers than ever in the switchyard woods. Install more street lights in my neighborhood immediately.
